In 2015, the Academy was awarded both ‘Clubmark’ and ‘Fishmark’ accreditation by the, Angling Trust. We were the first club in the UK to receive ‘Fishmark’.

Sport England’s ‘Clubmark’ is a cross-sport accreditation for sports clubs with junior sections in recognition of being a quality club. ‘Fishmark’ is now the recognised Angling Trust accreditation that is awarded to a Club when it achieves the criteria to demonstrate it has achieved nationally recognised standards of Club Management, Child protection, Duty of Care, Sports Equality, Ethics and Management of Activities

Junior fishing is held on the safe canal style lake which contains a good stock of Bream, Crucian carp, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Gudgeon.

The Easter Weekend holiday is the start of the year for better fishing conditions after the winter cold snap and it is the closed season for fishing on rivers and drains.

Therefore, the first competition of the year will be on Tuesday 3rd April 2018

    Draw: 0930. Fish: 10am to 2pm. Prizes will be awarded to 1st 2nd & 3rd places

Taster days will be held during the summer school holiday and will also be sponsored by the Angling Trades Association during National Fishing Month.

Parents are also welcome to come & learn to fish with their children, so in the future they will be able to enjoy family fishing together.

The Taster days will start on Tuesday 29 May 2018 during the holiday, then restart on Tuesday 24 July and each Tuesday thereafter, ending on Tuesday 28 August which will be the Summer competition.

The Autumn competition was, historically, held during the half term in October. However, recent years have proved the weather to be too cold/wet/windy or all three. Therefore it will be held on Saturday 8 September 2018. Draw 0930, Fish 1000am until 2pm.

Easy Access pegs are available for wheelchair users and we have equipment to enable a safe fishing environment. We also accommodate patients from the Southport Spinal Unit when the weather is suitable for them.

You do not have to purchase any equipment to come fishing, we have enough for everyone so that if fishing is not for you, you wont have wasted your hard earned cash on something you wont use.
