In 2011, demand was becoming apparent for a specimen carp lake to be constructed. It was decided that this should be next to our course lake. This lake is much deeper than the Old Coarse Lake and depths range from 4ft up to 15feet in certain parts. There are two islands on this lake and also sand/gravel bars in each corner.
15 individual pegs were constructed which includes two pegs which are particularly suitable for the elderly/disabled angler. Again parking is available behind each peg and disabled toilet facilities are easily accessible.
This lake was opened early 2013 and instantly became a firm favourite with keen carp anglers. The lake is well stocked with Mirror and Common Carp ranging from an average of 9lb up to a reported 29lb. Quite a few Carp weighing in from around 12-13lb – 18-19lb. We also have many other varieties of fish in here including Bream up to 9lb and Tench over 7lb. There are also Roach, Golden Orfe and Perch. This lake is particularly popular due to the occupation of our very own Percy the Sturgeon who tops the scales at 33lb. He is particularly partial to a lump of luncheon meat. Anglers will definitely experience an athletic workout whilst trying to land this monster fish!
We pride ourselves on the condition and well being of our fish and operate a strictly barbless hook policy, with maximum size 8 hooks. Suitable landing nets/mats and cradles must also be used on this lake.
Overnight booking can be arranged, for anglers known to the owners and who have previously fished our waters. This can be done by contacting Glenys Thompson on 01704 821269 or mobile 07834 905555.
